  1. No fever is good! The “getting in gear” part is tough, especially after everything Donna’s been through… But we’ll get there!

Just spent this afternoon with a cousin who underwent a heart valve transplant last Wednesday, and this morning was finally moved out of ICU, and this afternoon the chest tubes were removed… Hooray!

Oddly, though her white blood counts are fine and the first day’s anticipated fever is gone, her blood sugar is WAY off and some other rather odd things are out if sorts… Her husband thinks it’s because she was on a heart lung machine for the surgery, and it takes a toll. Takes a while for the body to get back to a new normal…

But like you said, Ron – it’s amazing how the goals change…

The great news is, we keep achieving them!

Way to go Donna! And her team!!!

    Keep up the great work!!

  2. Well just a little bump in the road to recovery! Enough of these. Praying that this is the last bump and smooth traveling from now on! Love Donna

  3. Aunt Donna,
You and Uncle Ron are true warriors. I am so proud of you and really draw from your strength to fight this head on. You are such an inspiration and I am beyond honored to be part of your family. I love you both (and Ryan) very much. I can only continue to pray that you get healthier and stronger daily. I love you.

  4. Well PHOOEY!

Afraid, though, my record of always getting to the hospital the day Donna just got out was broken to shards this last time.

I’ll call before I stop by – have Mom/Dr. appt. but will have to take her home before I can come by (HAVE to watch Wheel of Fortune – which, by the way, have you noticed their funny new opening?)

I’ll check w/Ron to make sure it is OK…should be around 8 or so.

    Arms around (gently, of course…)!

  5. Hope the cause of the elevated WBC count is pinpointed, corrected and all things get aligned soon! Glad to hear she is chipper and chatty. I enjoyed our last visit and will stop by wherever she is (home?)when I return from Houston later this week. I agree with Curt, Ron, you are doing a superb job taking care of her.
    Love and prayers,
    Jan
