      • I made them for 800 when I was there. Don’t worry if I get the energy to do them I won’t leave you out.

  1. Donna, I’m wishing and praying all the best for your surgery! I hate that you have to go through such a scary thing again, but there have been lots of improvements after 25 years so maybe this time it will be just a little easier. Also praying for your doctor so that he gets every last bit of cancer out!

  2. Ms. Donna, prayers continually being sent your way, to the doctors and all who are involved in this process. Love you, Maria.

  3. Just learned of this site. Praying everything goes smoothly. And about those fried pies…apple please. Just send it in interoffice with my name on it.

  4. Donna, Praying for you and your family during this time. Hang in their you are one touch “cookie.” Kathy

PS Did someone say “Fried Pies” – Lemon please or have you ever tried to make Key Lime????

  5. Love this site. Great idea. See you soon, praying without ceasing, and loving you always! I like fried pies but would rather go to Naples or Vegas when this is over. (-:

  6. Donna: Website is a great idea. We already miss you but this is a great way to stay in touch. You are in our thoughts continually.

As for fried pies…how about blueberry? Or even better – Nutella!!!
    Gayle

  7. Donna, Ron, Ryan, Rocky and Borris – just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I will be available to help out anytime during Donna’s recovery and after. Thinking of you all! Love, Bonnie

  8. Hey Donna, I know we’re a long way away but you need to know we’re thinking of you and the family. I have to say I also like the ‘pie’ theme that’s developing on this site in a very short time. Seems to be quite a demand and despite the distance consider us in the queue for one – so no slouching on the recovery ok 😉

  9. Good luck next week darlin’! Suzanne and I will be sending good thoughts your way. Please let us know if you or Ron need ANYTHING.
    …jeff

    • I’m already packed…..just say the ‘word’. Hugs and sending prayers for your doctor, you, Ron, and Ryan.

  10. Sending all healthy healing thoughts your way Please let me know if I can do anything for you.

  11. Gosh! This is the first I’m hearing of your challenges…I am rooting for you and look forward to hearing good post-op news!

    Trish

  12. Thank you, Ron, for setting up/activating this site. I will be praying for Donna, you, Ryan, and her medical team.

  13. My Friend Ms. Donna miss seeing that big smile around here – get to feeling better. Thoughts & prayers are with you.

  14. Donna, it’s been decades since I worked in reservations for Delta, but when I saw your picture I remembered you instantly and very fondly, I might add. You may remember me as Sharon Ward and also Sharon McFee.

This old intruder that I know you never wanted to visit again is a real nuisance. I’m sure you have the best army of doctors, family, and friends ready to help you through this round. My prayers are with all of you.

  15. Know it’s been awhile, but Delta is always “family”. Healing prayers coming your way for you and family as well as surgery team.

  16. Donna and Ron, I am so sorry to hear about the surgery. Health issues are no fun, but I know the two of you will weather it together. Wishing you the best and healthiest outcome and a very quick recovery. We will be thinking of you. Doug and Kathryn

  17. Whenever you’re ready for lunch, just say the word. It’s been way too long. In the meantime, prayers for successful surgery are headed your way from me and your many Delta friends.

  18. It has been a long time since I last saw you, but I remember your great attitude and big smile. When this is all behind you I think a lunch celebration is in order. Will keep you and your family in my prayers.

  19. Donna,

Don’t know if you remember me, Kathryn Gilbert Craig. I transferred to MEM Res in 1985 but remember you well. I had not heard about your 1st round of cancer. Trust round 2 will be easily treated. I’m just recovering from pancreatic cancer (surgery was Oct. 25, 2012) and am almost finished with my preventative chemo (had 28 days of radiation too). God is great all the time. We will be praying for you, your family and your surgery team. Kathryn

  20. Donna, you will be in my prayers for a swift and total recovery. I am humbled by your strength and resolve and commend you for sharing this journey. Being part of our Delta Family comes with a special bond that we will always share. My very best to you and your family.

    Judy Britton

  21. Donna, I am so sorry to hear that the monster returned. I will pray for your full recovery. Our Delta family is great, I do not know of another company where the folks have the bond that us Deltoids have. Stay strong, you are a very sweet lady. Donna (Carmichael-Webb)Leslie

  22. Donna, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Where is the surgery? Donna

    • Presbyterian Dallas, Margot Perot building.  I’ll post more details when we get them.  Thanks

  23. Hi Donna,

I’m so sorry you are having to go thru this. Please know all of us former DAL RES people are thinking of you and praying for you and your family. Be assured you’re at a great hospital with fabulous doctors – and then put yourself in God’s hands and trust him.

    Cheryl Lloyd

  26. Am I allowed to voice more than once? I’m thinking about you a lot. What you’re going through is crazy-scary (just like, but not just like, what I just went through was crazy-scary). My password on this site is exactly how I feel about you. I don’t know if Ron can see that as Admin, but someday I’ll tell you what it is. Just know it’s a tribute.

  34. Aunt Donna,

I wanted to let you know that I am praying for a smooth procedure today. I know just how tough you are and I am so proud to be your great niece. I know that the next weeks and months are going to be anything other than a walk in the park, but if there is anyone who can defeat this not once, but twice, it is you. Please know that my prayers are with you today and in the time ahead. If there is anything that your GA family can do, we will. I love you so much!

Now for the wait….but the great news will be here before you know it. We (Jeff/Patrick/Bri/Courtnee/I) will be walking in the Relay for Life in Frisco this Friday and we will be walking for you as well in your honor. Love you and I’ll talk to you soon.

    Suzanne

  53. Donna, so glad you are doing well. Thinking of you. Anxious for the next update.

  54. Donna,
This site is so nice. That said I just expected you to do well, and of course you are exceeding everyone’s expectations. You cannot watch over this deal without sensing all the warmth and support so many of your friends are sharing. Its pretty impressive and is testament to who you are. Apparently a lot of these folks’ prayers are being answered. To see that familiar smile on your face, already, pretty much says it all. I’ll be bringing a big hug to Texas with me pretty soon now, and I can’t wait.

  55. I want to tell Ron and Ryan that we know this is hard on you, too. You are wonderful men to take such good care of your gal! Big Hugs to both of you!

  56. Hi Donna Kay – Iris, Susie and I are thinking of you prayerfully. It sounds like you are making progress, you look good walking the hall. Keep up the good work. We are remembering you in our thoughts and prayers. Cousin Betty

  57. We’re thinking of you guys from the other side of the country. Mom has been keeping us up to date. We love and miss you.

  58. Donna, just checking in to say hello. Have you started eating yet? They wouldn’t let me eat anything until I had a movement,it took about 5 days but everything was good after that. You will feel stronger each day. Don’t get discourage if you have a bad day because there are many more good days ahead. May God continue to bless you!!!

    • She’s still on clear liquids. If she is a good girl, then tomorrow she can go to full liquids. Thanks for the thoughts!

  59. Good evening, Donna….Pam shared this site with me earlier tonight because I have been praying for you all week, and I was anxious to hear how you were doing… Praise the Lord! So many prayers have been answered!…Bill and I are so very thankful that you are doing well. You are certainly loved a lot! What a blessing for us to keep praying for your continued recovery. Hugs for you, Ron, and Ryan!

  60. Thinking of you all and sending love, prayers, and Lanham’ness’ your way. We’re a tough bunch!

  61. Hi Donna, glad we got to see you today. You’re looking great and in such great spirits! We admire you. Always in our prayers….. Love, Blake & Janna.

  62. Donna,
You’ve gotta quit all that walking and exercise. You’ll be so thin and trim you’ll make the rest of us look bad!
    Praying for continued recovery,
    Gail

  63. Donna,
I was planning on coming up to see you today, but we got 94 parking citations in this weekend and I didn’t get off until 4:30 am and I went in an hour early. So, you know what I’ve been doing today. I may try tomorrow, but definitely by Wednesday. Let me know when you get out of the hospital, so I can make my trip shorter if need be.

  64. Thought I’d fill you in on our weekend. We’re trying to potty train Sadie. She got big girl undies, huge production. She hated being wet the first two accidents. Perfect!!! The rest of the day she couldn’t care less. We spent a lot of time w the carpet cleaner and washing machine. Sadie 1, good guys 0.

  65. Wow! Great news that you may go home today. I am sure you will feel better and rest much better at home. We will continue to keep you in our prayers. Take care and rest.

  66. Hope you are feeling better and have some answers to your questions. Prays for you. Kathy

  67. Hi Donna Kay. I’ve been thinking of you. Hope today is a wonderful day for you.
    Relax and enjoy “being”. Blessings.

  68. Hey Donna! I was just thinking of you. I hope you are doing well and had a great holiday!

  69. Been thinking about you and Ron. Trust progress is going forward for you-both. Blessings.

  70. We are so glad that Donna’s surgery went well. Awana called asking about her this afternoon. Please tell Donna Awana said ‘hi’.

Have not heard how you are doing since Wednesday. I hope you are doing good.

    Ines

  73. Donna, Donna, Donna I leave u for a few days and where do I find u upon my return……….sounds like u have had a hard time. I just got an update from Jane this morning and obviously that update was changed later in the evening. I am SO sorry. Positive thoughts are coming your way….keep in touch and I will bring something yummy for dinner….light and yummy but nothing with RICE! No Asian food for awhile. You rest my friend…will be in touch.

    Harper

  74. Donna:

I am so sorry you are having more problems, but glad they found what was causing you NOT to be able to eat. I called this afternoon (cell and room) and I assume you were in surgery by reading the blog. Awana says ‘hi’ and asks about you every time I speak to her. I will call her tonight and give her an update. Hugs to you!!! I will have Jeff drive me there when you are able to see visitors again. Love you!

  75. Donna, so sorry to hear about this setback. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know you will bounce back as you have before!

  76. Donna – May God Bless you with good health and peace through this hard time. I pray to God that he may give you the strength to overcome your sickness soon. May your hospital stay be short and wishing you a complete and restful recovery. GET WELL SOON! Miss you Donna.

  77. Ron:
Whining has been medically proven to be beneficial when done in moderation – like good wine or prime rib. Whining is like a little interlude that lets us jump over, move around, or kick-ass those tough situations we can’t escape. It also opens up the nasal passages.
So indulge yourself! You’ve earned the right. It will ease your burdens (if only temporarily) so you can take care of yourself and support Donna!

Hard to accept that someone as lovely and warm as Donna is having to face this damned disease. We are all praying for her – and for you and your family.

    Gayle Ross

  78. Ron, lots of people are reading your blog and we DO appreciate it even the Geeky part. Positive thoughts and prayers still coming your way. Please take care of yourself…the caregiver needs to stay healthy!

  79. Donna, I have been out of town and had not been looking at all my emails. I am still processing the news. I am so sorry. I don’t know what I can say or do except pray. You are in my thoughts and prayers…..Love Jana

  80. Thinking of you and praying for you constantly. Incredibly fond memories driving to The Colony for the first time – I thought you were taking me to Oklahoma! Love, love, love my dear friend Donna.

  81. Dear Donna and Ron, you have been in my thoughts continuously since I learned last night about Donna’s condition. I want you to know that I really appreciate that both been so great to me. Aunt Donna is like a best girlfriend and a wise aunt rolled into one! We had some wonderful dinners together where I drank too much wine but came away with such a better understanding of our family. It has given me great comfort to have you as family members and close by. I am hoping and praying we can start spending more time together. I hope to be able to pay a visit when Rhona gets in tomorrow. Love you, Jennifer

  82. I pray for your health and well-being. Many prayers for your loved ones for strength and endurance. With love and concern, Marci (Delta ’77)

  83. Dear Donna and Ron – We love you guys so much. Dave is at sea but I spoke to him last night and he wanted you both to know that you are in his thoughts and prayers as also in mine. Much Love Ann and Dave

  84. Read Carole Neubrand’s update on you. I know first-hand after my accident last how meaningful it is to hear from your friends and feel their support. My caring thoughts are with you. Hope they are keeping you as pain-free as possible. Be strong and don’t let the demon win…Carlotta Schmittgen

  85. Hi Donna…this is Kerri (Benson Murray) Mohar. I hope you get better soon and are back on your feet good as new. I live in TLH now and I’m sending my love and support for you as you continue your fight. Get well soon. Let me know if there’s anything I can do for you. I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

  86. Donna,
I have often wondered how you have been since leaving Kew Gardens. I see that right now you could use a pick-up. I am praying that you get by this thing. Feel free to give me a call and we can catch up.
    Russ

  87. Donna I am so sorry to hear about your cancer. Know that you are in my prayers. Praying for your husband and family as well. I’m a breast cancer survivor so I know the emotional effect this disease has on people. I was based in DFW for 23 yrs. and then started my commuting venture. My last base was in NYC. I flew mostly int’l and out of JFK. Lots of military charters and then I retired in Jan. 06. I don’t know if we ever met, but it doesn’t matter cause we are “sky sisters”.

  88. Donna, not sure if you remember me but we worked together in Dal Res 25 or 30 years ago..so sorry to hear the cancer has come back will be praying for you and a quick recovery.

  89. Donna,

I’m thinking of you everyday. i miss you.
My prayers are with you, Ron and Ryan.

    Ines

  90. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My heart is heavy today…
Please let me know if there is any way I/we can be of assistance to you from your Police Records family.

  91. Donna, my last name was Ickes when we started in res. I remember you as one of the six Delta finally hired from Braniff. You and I both transferred to in-flight. I transferred in 1987. I don’t think you were far behind me. I retired in 2006. I remember how proud you were of Ryan and his gymnastics. Time goes so fast and it’s hard to keep in touch in in flight. I had no idea you had cancer. I will pray for your healing and your relationship with Jesus. I also pray that you are comfortable as you work your way through this. If you are up to visitors, at any time, please let me know. I’d love to pray with you. Pam Clem

  92. So relieved to know that Donna is out of ICU. Will watch for continued progress. Is Ryan still in town?

  93. Chris just gave me this web site. I know you have been thru a lot and I think of you often. Thinking and sending prayers your way.

  94. Donna,

How is everything? everybody is asking about you and if I had heard from you. We have not seen any new posts. We miss you and think of you all the time.

    Love,

    Ines

  95. I know you didn’t want to resign today. I will always think fondly of our fun times together in the deep of the night. Thinking of you, Dianne

  96. I sure do understand your decision to resign/retire, but know you will be MISSED around here (and at 801 I’m sure). I will always look back fondly to our deep night pajama parties. Stay happy and hug your puppies.

  97. Heaven has gained a good one for sure. Such a gem. One of the kindest ever; she “took me in” at Delta and made me feel so valued. I will treasure my memories of driving out to the “boonies” (the Colony) back in the late 80s. Now it all seems so close. I thank God that I was able to meet Donna and call her my friend. I am sad but glad that her fight is over. No more pain.

  98. So very sorry to hear about Donna. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Ryan. Love, Lee

  99. Hi sweet girl! Time here seems to fly by. We have social media but many things are just not meant to be shared with the entire world. My thoughts about you after these past 7 years are one of those. I miss you terribly and I don’t think many would understand that after this much time. My dream for you is that you are celebrating with Christ and the rest of the family gone before me. I know I will get to see you soon. Love you much! Rhona
